Depending on where you live in the world, will depend on the proper type of wood for chimineas. In the United States we have the Pinion wood tree, also spelled Pinyon wood and Pinon wood.

But, for those of us in the United States, we have great options for wood for chimineas. Some of the finest chiminea wood comes from the Southwest U.S. My favorite chiminea wood is Pinion wood from the state of New Mexico. This state has the best chiminea wood available in the global wood market.

Our wood is stored INDOORS and we use Organic bug control to insure you the highest quality. We are the only indoor firewood company in the Midwest keeping your wood out of natures elements

I have customers that are enjoying the New Mexico Shaggy Bark Juniper and it is also a great chiminea wood if you can find it. I've seen Shaggy Bark Juniper available in Arizona but there is quite a bit of Juniper in New Mexico.
Our favorite gymnosperm aromatic firewood is Juniper and Pine.  I have created a liking to the Shabby Bark Juniper from New Mexico. The Pinyon Pine is always a luxury in the back porch chiminea.  When looking for chiminea wood, make sure it is for fragrance and not for cooking wood to smoke meats. Using a gymnosperm as a smoking food wood will turn out really nasty food.

Chimineas are often made out of clay or cast iron these days. Years back, most of the clay chiminea were coming out of border towns of Mexico and they were trucked into Texas and then trucked all over the United States. My experience with clay chimineas was disappointing because they would crack so easily. Often the mistake people make is if they need to put out the fire, they would throw water on the fire. With the entire clay chiminea heating up, the cool water shocks it and cracks the entire outdoor chiminea.

I really have come to enjoy the cast iron chimineas. Use caution if you have children around because the iron does heat up to a high temperature and this can really burn if it is touched. The luxury of buying a cast iron chiminea for sale is that it really lasts for many years.  The long lasting iron chiminea is a outdoor fireplace for sale that can drastically outweigh a clay chiminea for sale.
When I start a fire in my chimineas I like to have kindling around to start it.  You may want to have some firestarters around cause these can really help starting your fire.  Another word of caution is to not cook food with pinion wood or even marshmallows because pinion wood and juniper wood are absolutely not for cooking food. The food cooked over gymnosperm wood will really give you some nasty tasting food.

Another type of chiminea wood I have used in my chiminea is Rocky Mountain Ponderosa Pine. This is a great smelling wood and if it is seasoned well can also serve as a firestarter.  Ponderosa Pine is the most famous wood in Colorado and New Mexico. In these states, they sell more Ponderosa than any other wood. If you have ever spent a vacation in New Mexico or Colorado, this is the amazing fragrance you can smell in the air. I love the Ponderosa pine for sale in New Mexico and Colorado!  Pinyon wood for sale - Pinion wood for sale - Pinon wood for sale is a great addition to your wood heating needs. Not only does pinion wood smell wonderful, it does have high btu's so it can put out some heating for camping trips and outdoor fireplaces when it gets chilly at night. Pinion wood is a special tree that grows in the Southwest that people have been enjoying for years. When you go to Santa Fe, New Mexico and smell that wonderful smell in the air, you are smelling the famous pinion wood.  So, if you have a chiminea, outdoor fireplace or have needs for a camping trip firewood for sale, look at #growokc
