Hickory wood - Hickory is known as the "King of the Smoking Woods" and has that amazing flavor. It is known in the Midwest as a really good smoking wood for sale that is used extensively as a cooking wood. It has a fairly strong aroma and also is great for grilling burgers. Grilling fajitas and burgers really comes out right with Hickory wood. We have also roasted corn on the cob a lot with hickory wood.

Pecan wood - Pecan wood is a cooking wood that is used in various different ways. It is light and isn't overbearing and is used with seafood, ribs, game birds, chicken and pork. If you want to smoke some great ribs, Pecan is a really good one to help the meat fall off the bone. Some people really like the combination of hickory and pecan combination.

If you like smoking wood chips, we offer a large selection from all over the country. Smoking wood pellets are also a really good answer cause they are compressed sawdust and the smoking wood pellets really burn long.

Thomas,

I’ve experimented with a lot of wood recipes for boston butts because I really love smoking them. First I like to use smoking wood chunks because it allows me to place the smoking wood in the right place in my BBQ smoker. My first two choices are Persimmon wood and Pecan wood. Sometimes I have mixed the two cooking woods and have also really liked how the boston butts really come out. There are some other options like Hickory because some people really love the taste of Hickory smoking and cooking wood. But this is personal preference.
I have also used Apricot wood because I like that it burns long and is sweet. If you don’t have a personal preference, then you may want to experiment with a few smoking and cooking woods to see. Experimenting with smoking wood recipes is one of the joys of cooking and smoking. Let us know how we can help, Thomas!
