Hi Theo,

Our seasoned oak is a good smoking wood but i believe there are some much better choices. I’d definitely look at pecan smoking wood and hickory smoking wood. I wouldn’t encourage you to use hickory wood alone cause it can dry out your meats a little too much and may be a tad overbearing. That’s why it is best to mix pecan smoking wood with it. I often do a mix of 50% hickory wood and 50% pecan wood. If I want to go light on the hickory like with a pork butt I’ll do 25% hickory and 75% pecan wood. This is one of the best smoking wood combination i have come across except for persimmon. For the boston pork butts i sure do love persimmon wood. Hope this helps you in your BBQ business!
